Apple Cider Chicken Dinner Jul. 13, 2011 *
Last night for dinner I used a product from Patti Labelle's Lady Marmalade line... Apple Cider Marinade... and it was delicious!!!
Here is how simple it was:
1 pound boneless/skinless chicken breast 1 jar of marinade AND THAT IS IT!!!!
24 hours before I was planning on making the chicken, I threw the chicken in a zip lock back with the marinade and refrigeratred it. Then when it was time to make it, I just threw the chicken in the oven at 350 degress until it was cooked throughout (covered). You could also throw the chicken on the grill as well.
This marinade is very good and has a fun/interesting flavor... it has a vinegar base which you can definitely taste, a little kick and a wonderful taste! The chicken was delicious and you could taste the marinade throughout the chicken which I loved.
Stop by Lancaster Central Market and grab a jar for your next cookout or when you need a quick and easy dinner.

New at market - Steel's Gourmet Foods May 31, 2011 *
A few weeks ago we added a new line of products at our Central Market location. The line is called Steel’s Gourmet Foods. This line of products is made locally here in Lancaster, PA, only a few minutes from market itself!
The past several weeks we have tasted some of these new and fun products and have enjoyed them all so far.
There are numerous products so if you’re not sure what to start with; a few we have had are:
Agave Mango Curry Sauce
- This one is super easy! All I did was pour the jar into a Crockpot with some boneless, skinless chicken breasts and let it cook until the chicken was done. I served the chicken and sauce over white rice and it was delicious! Not only does this taste amazing, it will make your house smell divine!
Agave Teriyaki Sauce
- Another easy one. Sauté diced chicken pieces on the stove until they are cooked and then add the Teriyaki Sauce and vegetables of your choice to make an amazing chicken stir fry! Again, super easy, healthy, and delicious!
Nature Sweet Maple Flavor Syrup and Organic Agave Nectar
- Both of these are wonderful over pancakes and waffles!
If you are not familiar with this line of products, I would strongly encourage you to check it out! Not only do they taste great but they are all natural, gluten free, low in calories, perfect for diabetics (low glycemic index) and they use quality ingredients!
Stop back in the weeks ahead for more product reviews and recipes ideas.
Renovations Complete! (almost anyway) May 12, 2011 *
Incase you missed it, we celebrated the renovations being complete at Lancaster Central Market last week. While not everything is really done, most things are finished and looking great! - Did you notice the new lighting? - Or the beautiful and bright new windows? - How about the new paint? - And of course clean bathrooms!
Those are just the tip of the iceburg - everyone who worked on the (never-ending) project did a wonderful job and we are excited to finally be seeing the results of MONTHS of work!
Stop out this weekend and check it out if you haven't had a chance to do so and be sure to say hello to us as well. You might even want to grab a jar of Lynn's Pineapple Salsa to marinate your chicken in this weekend before throwing it on the grill!
New things springing up at market! Apr. 27, 2011 *
Have you been to Lancaster Central Market lately to see our new stand?
We are so excited about the changes we made last week. Incase you haven't made it out, here are some details of what is different...
- The old biscotti case is gone and has been replaced by several wooden hutches! The biscotti is now displayed in beautiful glass jars (which we think makes them look even more delicious). We still have Gluten Free Biscotti, it is just kept behind the shelves so be sure to ask for it!
- We added two new lines of product - Steels and Patti Labelle's Lady Marmalade! If you haven't had a chance to try these new items, we highly recomend doing so. Steels offers several flavors of Pie Fillings, Syrups, Salad Dressings and Marinades, Fruit Spreads, etc... Patti Labelle's line offers BBQ Sauces, Savory Cooking Sauces, etc. (more to come on both of these lines in a future post).
Stop by Friday or Saturday this week and check it all out! The weather is supposed to be nice - what better way to spend an afternoon than perusing market with a fresh biscotti in your hand!
What's for Breakfast? Aug. 24, 2010 *
I go in spurts as to what I have for breakfast… For example,
I will go for a month where I eat oatmeal every morning for breakfast, then I get
tired of it and switch to eggs… every morning for another month (or so) I will
eat eggs.
Currently, I am eating bread. NOT toast, just bread with
some wonderful Amish Jam on it. I get my bread from Ric’s Bread at Lancaster Central Market. It has no
preservatives or any of that other “funny Stuff”.
As far as jam goes, I have been alternating between Jonah’s No Sugar Added Blackberry and Olivia’s No Sugar Added Red Raspberry.
Since both of those jars are about empty, I stopped in at market today and
grabbed some Laura’s No Sugar Added
Blueberry – MMM!!! I think it would be safe to say this is my favorite.
It is SO good – tastes like fresh blueberries from grandma’s garden!!!
The Popper is Back! Aug. 19, 2010 *
For those of you who were looking for our Multigrain Snacks at market earlier this week, we apologize for not having them… However… good news… tomorrow (Friday) the CoCo Pop machine will be back in action. We will be popping all day. Come and check it out and restock your supply!
And remember, due to construction at Lancaster Central Market, we are relocated for a few more market days. Follow the signs or ask around to find us. We are carrying ALL of our normal items in our temporary location; Biscotti, Gluten Free Biscotti, Amish Jams, Salsas, Dressings, Marinades, Mustards, Veggies, BBQ Sauces, Hot Sauces, No Sugar Added Jams, etc…
Vanilla Ice Cream, Peaches & JAM Aug. 16, 2010 *
Last night, we were hungry for a sweet snack… Someone at market on Saturday told my hubby that they grill their peaches! We thought this sounded interesting, so we tried it!
We grilled a few peaches, ran to the store for vanilla ice cream and had a wonderful snack. Then hubby got the fantastic idea to add a few scoops of Pricilla’s Peach Jam on top of the ice cream and peaches… he even put the jam in the microwave to warm it up. OH MY WORD! I can’t tell you all in words how delicious this was!
You could really do this with any type of fruit and of course all of our Amish Jams. We will definitely be trying different combinations in the future!
